More about the charities

Ally's Wish

Ally’s Wish is a nonprofit organization based in North Texas devoted to granting a last wish to young, terminally ill mothers with children. In one of the darkest times in a family’s life, Ally’s Wish strives to provide a memory for the family that will last a lifetime. We believe these families need memories that don’t include doctors, hospitals, treatments and sickness. Our goal is to take away the sadness and pain for even just a moment and allow them to have fun as a normal family.

Wishes are granted in the form of services, gifts, transportation, lodging, or any other wish the mother may have, and a typical wish granted is approximately $5,000. Since inception in 2014, 125 wishes have been granted to families across North Texas and the U.S. Our most popular wishes are trips to Disney World, Hawaii, and to the beach. But we have also granted wishes such as charm bracelets with milestone charms, backyard renovations including a pool and we also gave a sweet family a puppy and all of the goodies a puppy might need.

We currently have a waiting list of close to 40 terminally ill moms. We believe that if we are granted the $100,000, we could clear out most, if not all, of the waiting list and get these last wishes granted for these sweet moms before it’s too late.

Vogel Alcove

Vogel Alcove is a nonprofit on a mission to help young children and families overcome the lasting and traumatic effects of homelessness—and the clock is ticking. 90% of human brain development happens by the age of five. Without intervention at this critical time, homeless children may suffer from lifelong social, emotional and educational deficits. This is where we come in.

Each year, we serve approximately 270 children affected by homelessness, including preschool children ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age, and school age children kindergarten through 5th grade. Vogel Alcove provides specialized trauma-informed care, quality early childhood education, and services that address developmental delays, mental health, and health needs. Through our two-generational programming we are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty for these children by working with their parents to stabilize the family unit through services focused on case management, job readiness, and career advancement.

A $100,000 donation will provide daily access to our on-site health clinic for 270 children annually by funding all supplies, equipment needed, and a registered nurse. According to the Homelessness and Poverty Working Group of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, homeless children are sick at TWICE the rate of other children due to the trauma, toxic stress, and environmental challenges that swirl around their young lives. Please, help a homeless child today with your vote.

Texans Can Academies - Dallas

For 35 years, Texans Can Academies – Dallas has rescued thousands of underprivileged kids who lost their way in school and has brought them to graduation and beyond—ensuring brighter, more prosperous futures for themselves and their families.

About 1 in 5 Texas children will drop out of high school, and 1 in 2 is at risk. When students drop out, chances that they will experience poverty double. Sadly, their children will likely know the same outcomes. With the community’s help, however, Texans Can Academies – Dallas aims to change that.

$100,000 would connect over 1,000 underprivileged Dallas kids to career education, showing them a way forward to increased earnings and happier lives. Pathways like this are how Texans Can Academies – Dallas helps students realize their untapped promise.
